The 3 diagrams describe the changes that have taken place at the West Park Secondary School since its construction in 1950. I will report the main features and make comparison when relevant. The first diagram of 1950 shows that the West Park School had 3 houses, a school, a farmland and a playground. Overall, the school expanded its facilities significantly, replacing residential land and farmland with modern educational and recreational infrastructure. The farmland was repurposed to the sports field. Furthermore, the third diagram of 2010 shows that the car park was expanded and converted into the area of the sports field which became a part of the area of the playground. In conclusion, we presented the central features of each diagram representing the construction of the West Park School since 1950 to 2010 and we made concise comparison. Model Answer (Band 8.0+) The three maps illustrate the development and structural changes of West Park Secondary School over a 60-year period from 1950 to 2010. Overall, the school grounds underwent significant modernization and expansion. The initial residential land and farmland were completely replaced by modern facilities such as a car park, a science block, and a sports field. In 1950, the school grounds consisted of a central school building with an adjacent playground to the east, flanked by a row of houses to the west and farmland to the south. By 1980, notable changes had occurred: the residential houses were demolished to clear space for a car park and a new science block. Additionally, the southern farmland was transformed into a sports field. By 2010, further redevelopments had taken place. The car park was expanded to cover the original sports field area. To accommodate this, the sports field was relocated to the eastern section, merging with a reduced playground area, while the main school building and science block remained unchanged.
